Eco Divers is a small, family-run operation that specializes in personalized dive experiences. Opened in 1995, it was the first dive shop in Cozumel to promote ecology diving. Thousands of tourists arrive daily to the island as it is a top diving destination in the world, therefore we feel a particular responsibility to help divers understand the fragility of the coral reef ecosystem. Our staff will provide you with ample information regarding this special environment so that you may better appreciate how to care for it while enjoying the many beauties it has to offer.
I did a Discovery session having never dived before and my friend who is certified did a two tank dive. The staff were super friendly and knowledgable. We saw some amazing sealife - turtles, a spotted eagle ray, and a white tipped reef shark amongst many other beautiful sights! Would highly recommend Eco Divers if you're in Cozumel, for both diving virgins and those more experienced! To top the morning off the guys invited us to a cantina for beers, lionfish and dancing with Jorge's tio afterwards, which was perfect.
I can't really say enough about this operation. My positive experience started as soon as I walked in the door. After being hassled by every street vendor in town, I stopped in to Eco Divers to inquire about a referral course. Jorge calmly explained the prices and locations and suggested I think about it and just let him know. This refreshing low pressure approach convinced me on the spot that it was where I wanted to take my business. I ended up diving with them and was very happy. I've been diving for 25 years and diving with ECO Divers on on Cozumel and Cozumel's beautiful reef system was absolutely amazing! I'm already trying to figure out when I can go back! Our trips include fast boats, tanks, weights, soda/juice & purified water, snack and visits to two different diving sites, and a bilingual (English and Spanish), PADI-certified Divemaster with a helpful crew.

For nearly 20 years I have been providing divers with a more personalized service, which is why I think we have loyal clients who come back each year and eventually become close friends and this is how Kristin came into my life.
It was important to me to find someone who was dedicated to the shop as I was, which is why we make a great team. She has been a great help in bringing the shop to the online world.
I started my training as an open water diver with Eco Divers and immediately knew I wanted to continue my dive education to become a certified Divemaster, although I hadn’t planned on working as a Divemaster.
In the end, diving made me much happier and healthier and so I made the decision to quit my office job and help Jorge out in the dive shop. Since 2010, we’ve been working as a team, along with our Boston Terrier, Stoli, to provide an excellent dive service and show tourists local, island life.
I have always like water sports so I decided to specialize in scuba diving and start a fantastic career as PADI Divemaster with Eco Divers. I have been working here for close to 7 years and I love sharing my experiences and knowledge that I acquired throughout my years.
Some of my favorite things to find on the reef are pygmy pipehorses and nudibranchs so come dive with me and I will show you some fantastic sea life!
I began working on the sea at the age of 12 when my Uncle Jose took me out fishing for the first time. I arrived to Cozumel because I had a brother living here. I first worked as a sailor and eventually became a captain.
I have been working as a captain for more than 30 years where I am happiest! I have been married for 35 years to my lovely wife, Maria Dionicia, with whom I have 3 children.
I was born on May 10, 1965 in Progreso, Yucatán. My mother and step-father brought me to the island when I was 8 years old along with 5 siblings. Here I met Captain Felipe, whom I married and we have 3 children together.
I like working with families, especially teaching children about diving and the aquatic life.

In our "Discover SCUBA" program, you are taught the basic diving techniques that are required to visit the underwater environment. From the beach, skills are learned and practiced on your knees at a depth that allows you to stand and reach the surface. You then dive to a shallow reef to enjoy the spectacular beauty of the undersea world. The training takes about 3 hours & occurs under the direct supervision of a PADI instructor.
If you have some experience with SCUBA but are not certified, we can offer you a diving course that allows you to experience drift diving Cozumel-style, under the direct supervision of a PADI-certified instructor. We first take you to a shallow area where you snorkel and learn basic SCUBA skills. Then you perform a 40-foot dive at a coral reef that is only accessible by boat. The time schedule for this program coincides with those for dive tours.
Or If you would like to become a certified diver, we can apply the introductory training discussed above to your full Open Water Diver Certification course. Our three-day course is divided into theoretical and practical training.
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a PADI card certifying you as an Open Water Diver Full certification.

If you are not quite ready for SCUBA, we also provide the opportunity to view the undersea world from above with our snorkeling adventures. We will take you to three different reefs with the same fast boats we offer to our divers.
